The best marriage ever began 45 years ago today. Larry and I got married around 8 pm with a full-church of family and friends in attendance. Larry was late because he remembered at the very last moment that he had not picked up his tux. And of course Ferran's had closed by that time. Judy called the owner, he met her there and gave her the tux, she flew back. And we got hitched. My grandfather had spent a good part of the day at Uncle Tom's drinking establishment and was a bit drunk. At the end of the ceremony, he called out, " Smack her one, Larry!" We had a cake-and-punch reception at Mr. and Mrs. Owens's. The preacher's wife made the cake. White with orange daisy flowers. After the reception we headed off for points north and spent a week in Gatlinburg, TN. We were practically the only ones there. At least we were the only people we saw. It has been 14 years since he left. And I still miss him like crazy. I wish Iain, Becki, Audrey, Avery, Ava, Emma, Sophie, and Kai could have known him. He would have been the best Pop in the world.
